Itinerary

Day 1: Delhi - Agra (210kms)

Breakfast at the hotel before starting your drive to Agra. Upon arrival, check in at your hotel and settle in. Visit the Taj Mahal, an exquisite ivory-white marble mausoleum commissioned in 1632 by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal. The Taj Mahal is celebrated for its stunning symmetrical design, intricate inlay work, and lush surrounding gardens. Explore Agra Fort, a grand red sandstone fortress that served as the main residence of Mughal emperors until 1638. The fort's architectural highlights include the Jahangir Palace, Khas Mahal, and the Sheesh Mahal (Mirror Palace), offering a glimpse into Mughal imperial life and impressive views of the Taj Mahal. Visit the Itmad-ud-Daula Tomb, also known as the "Baby Taj," commissioned by Mughal Empress Nur Jahan for her father Mirza Ghiyas Beg. The tomb is noted for its intricate marble inlay work and delicate carvings, often considered a precursor to the Taj Mahal’s architectural style. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 2: Agra - Fatehpur Sikri - Delhi (260kms)

After breakfast, drive to Fatehpur Sikri, a once-thriving Mughal city that was abandoned shortly after its construction. The site, predominantly built from red sandstone, includes several significant structures: Diwan-e-Khas (Hall of Private Audience): A beautifully adorned hall where Emperor Akbar held private meetings and discussions. Jodha Bai Palace: The residence of Akbar’s Rajput queen Jodha Bai, featuring a blend of Mughal and Rajput architectural styles. Jama Masjid: A grand mosque with a large central courtyard, showcasing Mughal architectural finesse with its large domes and intricate carvings. Tomb of Salim Chishti: The tomb of the Sufi saint Salim Chishti, known for its stunning white marble work and peaceful ambiance. Panch Mahal: A five-story palace offering panoramic views of the surrounding area, built for relaxation and enjoyment. Buland Darwaza: The "Lofty Gate," a massive gateway that was erected to commemorate Akbar’s victory over Gujarat, exemplifying Mughal grandeur with its imposing height and elaborate carvings.
