Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive Guwahati

On arrival at Guwahati airport, receive assistance and transfer to your hotel. Enjoy a serene evening cruise on the Brahmaputra River, where you'll witness a spectacular sunset over the majestic river. The cruise offers panoramic views of the riverbanks and surrounding landscape, providing a relaxing end to your day. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 2: Guwahati - Kaziranga NP (200km)

After breakfast at the hotel, begin your city tour of Guwahati. Visit the Kamakhya Temple, one of the most revered Shakti shrines in India. This ancient temple, dedicated to the goddess Kamakhya, features intricate sculptures and vibrant murals, attracting thousands of pilgrims each year. Explore the Navagraha Temple, an important site dedicated to the nine celestial bodies of Hindu astrology. The temple complex offers insights into astrological beliefs and practices. Proceed to Umananda Island, the smallest river island in the world, located in the Brahmaputra River. Day 3: Kaziranga NP

After breakfast, embark on a gypsy safari in Kaziranga National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its remarkable wildlife. Explore the central range of the park, which is renowned for its abundant water bird species, including storks and herons that thrive in the marshlands. Continue to the eastern range, which is home to a variety of wildlife and offers excellent opportunities for spotting animals in their natural habitat. Enjoy lunch, dinner, and an overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 4: Kaziranga - Majuli (150km)

After breakfast, drive to Nimathi-Ghat and board a ferry for the journey across the Brahmaputra River to Kamalabari-Ghat. Transfer to your lodge in Majuli, a unique river island known for its rich cultural heritage and natural beauty. Check in at your lodge and begin exploring the island. Majuli is celebrated for its vibrant Vaishnavite culture, established in the 15th century by Srimanta Shankardeva. The island is dotted with satras (monastic institutions) that showcase traditional dance, music, and art forms. Visit a local village of the Mishing tribe, where you can interact with residents and experience their way of life. Enjoy traditional hospitality with tea or rice beer, and gain insight into the island’s unique cultural practices. The island's fertile floodplains and wetlands are home to over 250 bird species, including rare and migratory birds, making it a paradise for birdwatchers. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 5: Majuli - Jorhat (40km)/ Departure

Enjoy breakfast at the lodge before transferring to Kamalabari Ghat to catch the ferry back to Jorhat. From Jorhat, board a flight for your onward destination.
