Hornbill Festival is an annual festival of Nagaland that takes place mostly in the first week of December every year. Each of the tribes and sub-tribes in the state have their own ways of promoting their culture. In addition to their traditional ceremonial attire which is different for each tribe. The exotic headgear and ivory armlets are other famous traditional things of Nagas which steal the show. In earlier times, the fighters had to prove their bravery to wear these. The festival is named after Hornbill, one of the most respected bird species in the state.

Day 1: Dimapur - Kohima (70Kms / 2hours)
On arrival at Dimapur airport assistance and transfer to Kohima. En-route, stop for tea and visit vegetable markets, where you shall see local vendors selling their locally produced fruits and vegetables. Reach Kohima and check in to your hotel and evening at leisure. Dinner & overnight at hotel.
Day 2: Kohima - Kisama (Hornbill) (10Kms / 30Minutes)
Morning after breakfast begins your affair by visiting Local Market, WWII Cemetery and Cathedral. After accomplishing a brief Kohima city tour, drive to Kisama to spend rest of the day at Hornbill Festival. Visit the Morungs where you can witness all the 16 tribes of Nagas and other neighboring states in their best traditional attire, gearing up for the festival. Be amused by the performances of various tribes depicting their culture and traditions through their presentations.
Return to Kohima for overnight stay, after a day well spent. Dinner & overnight at hotel.
Day 3: Kohima - Kisama (Hornbill) (10Kms / 30Minutes)
Morning after breakfast, explore nearby villages, Phesama and Kigwema. Acquaint yourself with the culture and tradition of Traditional Angami village. Later on, drive to Kisama for more of Hornbill Festival. Witness more of cultural activities, visit the Bamboo Pavillion, Museum and other various stalls at the venue and experience some local cuisines of Nagas. Back to Kohima for overnight stay. Dinner & overnight at hotel.
Day 4: Kohima - Khonoma - Kohima (20Kms / 1Hours)
Morning after breakfast, we shall have a detailed tour of Khonoma “The First green Village in the Country”. On reaching Khonoma, start exploring the village by visiting Morungs, traditional gates, Forts, and local people as you unearth the traditions and cultural lifestyle of the local people. We shall witness and participate in some local crafts, indigenous games. Enjoy a Picnic lunch at the buffer zone of Community Sanctuary OR Terrace field. Later we shall involve with some local leaders and part take in “talking values”.
Evening drive back to Kohima for Night Stay. Dinner & overnight at hotel.
Day 5: Kohima - Dimapur Airport (70Kms / 2Hours)
Morning after breakfast, bid farewell to the beautiful hills and drive to Dimapur Airport to connect your flight for your onward journey.
