Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive Ahmedabad

On arrival at Ahmedabad airport, assistance and transfer to the hotel for check-in. Rest time is free to relax. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 2: Ahmedabad

Breakfast at the hotel. Visit Hatheesing Jain Temple, established in 1850 by Jain merchant Seth Hatheesing, dedicated to Jain Tirthankar Dharamnath. The temple features intricate carvings and ornate architecture. Explore Bhadra Fort, a historic monument known for its elaborate carvings and beautiful frescoes. The fort, surrounded by lush greenery, is named after the Bhadrakali Temple it houses. Visit Sabarmati Ashram, the former residence of Mahatma Gandhi situated on the banks of the Sabarmati River. The ashram includes a museum with Gandhi’s personal letters and photographs. See the Shaking Minarets, a fascinating architectural wonder where the minarets produce a shaking effect when one is touched, yet the structure remains stable. Explore the Sardar Patel Museum, which showcases artifacts related to the life and work of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, a key figure in India’s independence movement, including documents, photographs, and personal belongings. Visit the Adalaj Stepwell, a beautifully carved 15th-century stepwell built by Queen Rudabai. The stepwell is renowned for its intricate carvings, ornate pillars, and architectural elegance. Day 3: Ahmedabad - Dasada (260kms)

Breakfast at the hotel. Drive to Dasada, visiting Modhera Sun Temple, built between 1026-27 CE during the reign of Bhima I of the Chaulukya dynasty. The temple features intricately carved halls: Gudhamandapa (shrine hall), Sabhamandapa (assembly hall), and a stepwell (Kunda) with numerous small shrines. Explore Rani ki Vav, an 11th-century stepwell built by Queen Udayamati in memory of her husband Bhima I. The stepwell is designed as an inverted temple with seven levels of stairs adorned with more than 500 principal sculptures and over a thousand minor ones. Visit Panchasara Jain Temples, built by King Vanraj Chavada around 746 CE. The temples feature exquisite domes and sacred carvings, showcasing Jain architecture and artistry. Continue the drive to Dasada and check in at the hotel. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 4: Dasada - Rajkot (160kms)

Breakfast at the hotel. Enjoy an early morning safari in the Little Rann of Kutch, a unique saline desert that was once a shallow sea. The sanctuary is known for its Asiatic Wild Ass population and is home to diverse wildlife, including chinkara, jackals, caracals, and over 350 bird species. The desert also attracts migratory birds like the ceraneous vulture and common cranes during winter. Drive to Rajkot and check in at the hotel. Visit Jubilee Garden, a large park featuring colonial-era monuments including Mohandas Gandhi High School, Kaba Gandhi No Delo (Gandhi's childhood home), Rashtriya Shala (Gandhi's educational institution), Watson Museum (with artifacts from Mohenjodaro), Lang Library, and Rotary Midtown Library. The garden is a reflection of Rajkot’s rich history and colonial influence. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 5: Rajkot - Gondal - Junagadh - Rajkot (200kms round) / Departure

Breakfast at the hotel. Excursion to Gondal, the former princely state ruled by the Jadeja Rajput clan. Visit Navlakha Palace, one of the oldest and most beautiful palaces located on a riverbank, showcasing exquisite architecture and royal heritage. Continue to Junagadh, an ancient fortified city at the base of Girnar Hill. The Girnar Hills are sacred to Jains and feature numerous temples. Ashoka's 14 edicts are inscribed on a boulder at Mt. Girnar peak. Explore Uperkot Fort, an ancient fortress with a complex history and strategic significance. Drive back to Rajkot and transfer to the airport for an evening flight to the onward destination.
