Overview

Kozhikode is a coastal city of Kerala. Pazhassiraja Museum in Kozhikode is famous for its various archaeological remains such as antique bronzes, ancient paintings and historical umbrella stones etc. And the Art Gallery in the city housed themed paintings using western style techniques of oil on canvas and the life-like form of European Art. Kappad Beach, famous for being the destination of Vasco Da Gama, the famous Portuguese explorer to reach India by sea in 1498. It is lined with palm trees and sedimentary rocks that decorate the shore and give any visitor a serene feeling. Mishkal Palli Mosque, believed to be constructed around 700 years ago by an Arab merchant Nakhooda Mishkal it doesn`t have any minarets making it unique. Central Kozhikode Beach, overlooked by an old lighthouse, is a popular spot for watching the sunset. Inland, tree-lined Mananchira Square, with its musical fountain, surrounds the massive Mananchira Tank, an artificial pond.
