In the evening, visit Leh Market, an ideal spot for souvenirs. The market offers Tibetan jewelry, intricately decorated carpets, woolen clothes, and local handicrafts. Overnight at the hotel.
Breakfast at the hotel. Visit Leh Palace, a 17th-century former royal residence offering stunning panoramic views of Leh and the Zanskar mountain range. The palace now houses a museum displaying ancient Buddha relics, paintings, and artifacts from the royal era. Explore Thiksey Monastery, established in 1430 AD, known for its impressive Lakhang Nyerma Temple dedicated to Goddess Dorje Chenmo. The monastery features beautiful wall paintings and shrines. Visit Shey Palace and Gompa, built in the 16th century, which enshrines a nearly 10-meter high copper statue of Lord Buddha. Stop by Shanti Stupa, a white-domed Buddhist monument at an altitude of 11,841 feet. Built in 1991 by Japanese and Ladakhi Buddhists, it celebrates 2,500 years of Buddhism and promotes world peace. Experience Magnetic Hill, where vehicles appear to defy gravity and move uphill when parked in a marked spot. This optical illusion creates the sensation of the vehicle rolling up the incline. Breakfast at the hotel. Visit Diskit Monastery, the oldest monastery in Nubra Valley, renowned for its large Maitreya Buddha statue and stunning panoramic views of the valley. The monastery houses a collection of murals and frescoes. Drive back to Leh via Khardung La pass, enjoying the scenic route. Continue the journey to Pangong Lake via the Shyok river road. The lake, situated at an altitude of 4,350 meters, is renowned for its changing colors from azure to light blue, green, and grey. Check in at a camp or guest house near Pangong Lake and enjoy the evening by the lake’s edge, watching the sunset over the water. Overnight at camp/guest house.
Early morning, savor the picturesque sunrise over Pangong Lake, with its ever-changing hues. Breakfast at the camp/guest house. Drive back to Leh via Tangste village and Chang La, the third highest motorable pass in India. Enjoy views of the lush green valley of Shakti and Karu, with opportunities to spot endemic and migratory bird species and possibly Tibetan Marmots. Arrive in Leh and check in at the hotel.
